You should now have your Zoom link for the conference. If you haven’t, please email diverseandunited@aka.asn.au ASAP.

How can I get the latest version of Zoom?

You can check which version you’re currently running.

The latest version of Zoom is available here

I’m not good with Zoom, how can I learn?

We were all newbies at one stage! There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube, see below for some videos or search google for answers. We are also here to help so you can email us at diverseandunited@aka.asn.au.

What if I forget my password to this website?

Click log in and click the link for Forgot password? There, you will be able to enter your email address, and a new password link will be emailed to you. Follow the instructions and you can set a new password.

Help! Zoom isn’t working!

Click here for a handy troubleshooting guide to Zoom. Obviously it’s more efficient if you can determine and correct your issue before contacting us, however if you’re still having issues, do get in contact with us at diverseandunited@aka.asn.au and make sure you send us a phone number so we can call you to help you faster (if in Australia).

What if my internet cuts out?

You can try:

  • waiting a few minutes and trying again (it often resolves itself)
  • if you know very little and want support, you can often call your Internet Service Provider for help (and do more steps below to try figuring it out yourself while you wait in the queue)
  • you can check:
    • is it the internet, or the whole computer/tablet/phone? Can other programs/apps like browsing or news/weather access the internet? Try disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting.
    • the wireless (WIFI) connection from the computer to the broadband router or modem that delivers your internet – Note the number of bars in the WIFI symbol button to see if you have good WIFI reception. If the problem is the WIFI connecting your computer, you could bypass WIFI via an ethernet cable rather than relying on your WIFI. This link has more tips and suggestions.
    • Internet Service Provider’s performance – You can test your internet service provider on a speed test site such as this one: Speedtest by Ookla.
  • reboot your PC, laptop, phone or tablet
  • reboot your broadband router or modem
  • tethering from your mobile phone – where you use your mobile phone’s internet connection for your computer or laptop. Please check you have enough GB free for the month so you don’t run up a large bill with your Internet Provider!
  • Do you have a smart phone (iPhone or Android) or a tablet? Almost all can run the Zoom app, and you can participate nearly fully as per these instructions. The screen is small, but the features are 95% there. See the video above for tips on how.
  • do you have a fellow kinesiologist living nearby? Some delegates are planning to attend the conference together, or meet up for dinner.
  • if all else fails, you will still get access to the video recordings, but do keep trying, we miss your lovely face!

What if the speaker’s internet cuts out?

We can control many things, but some things are just out of our hands! We’ll do our best to prepare our speakers for the worst, but these things happen. We’ll also have some back ups prepared, just in case. You can help us out by going with the flow!

What if something goes wrong with a recording?

We have a number of backups in place to mitigate this risk, but there is still a chance the technical gremlins will strike. We can’t guarantee each speaker will be recorded, but we’ll be doing our very best. Note that if the speaker loses their internet (for example), we won’t be able to provide a recording. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

I can’t attend some of the live presentations, will there be recordings included in the ticket?

Yes! Although we can’t guarantee technical gremlins will prevent us recording all presentations in their entirety, we are taking steps to minimise that risk and we’re confident we can provide video recordings for all presentations. Please note, recordings will not include live Question and Answer time after most presentations or breakout rooms.

Will the recorded videos be the same as the live presentations?

Not exactly, no. The recorded videos will include all of the information presented but not the live Question and Answer time after the conclusion of the presentation, if applicable. Breakout rooms are unable to be recorded. Recordings will also not include anything that happens in between presentations such as welcome messages or minor activities.

Will I get CPE (Continuing Professional Education) points for this online conference?

The AKA Inc have confirmed members will receive 15 CPE points for purchasing a ticket to this online conference (note, you do not have to attend the online conference live to receive these points). If you purchase recordings after the online conference, AKA Inc members will be eligible for 9 CPE points as recordings will not include Q&A time.

All delegates will receive a CPE certificate, so if you require CPE for another professional association, you will need to check eligibility for CPE points with your association.

Can I become a member of the AKA Inc?

Absolutely, we’d love to have you! Visit aka.asn.au.
